OVER THE WATERS
Genesis 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Genesis 8:1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind (Ruach/Spirit) to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;
Genesis 9:8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;
John 6:18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
Mark 6:49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
Deuteronomy 32:10 In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye, 11 like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft.
Psalm 29:3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters.
Psalm 29:10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.
In these verses, we get a beautiful picture of the Holy Spirit hovering over chaos and disorder. Over a barren wasteland, creating life from death, Light from the darkness, peace from anxiety. A beautiful representation of how he found us wallowing in a pool of our own blood in that same mire of chaos from which he graciously pulled us out of. Shown how to fly above our problems, Just like an eagle teaches its young, or just like Jesus teaches peter to walk on water. Breathing his holy wind into the wasteland of our dry bones, saying “arise from the dust, and live” and "waters be assuaged"
> Psalm 56:13 For thou hast delivered my soul **from death**: wilt not thou deliver my feet from **falling**, that I may walk before God in **the light of the living?**
- **Death**: or the chaos that exists under the water.
- **Falling**: into the waters/mire/pit
- **The light of the living**: whenever we are walking above the waters, we are walking in the light of the living. Walking by faith and not by sight. We are "walking on water"
> Psalm 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to **the rock that is higher than I.**
Psalm 63:8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy **right hand upholdeth me.**
- **Right hand**: ref: [[The Arm Of The God]]
- **Upholds me**: only through seeking Jesus are we lifted up.
> Psalm 44:5 Through thee will we **push down** our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under **that rise up** against us.
- push down/rise up: this is all a different way to describe being "over the waters" and [[Under The Waters]]
